  • Role Description

    Key Responsibilites

    • Protect and maintain FNZs reputation with clients and regulatory bodies in the UK and Europe
    • Manage a team to successfully deliver the FNZ Global Risk and Control Framework to the UK/European business
    • Ensure risk management responsibilities are met in line with our commitments to clients


    Summary of Focus

    • Maintain, develop and deliver the Global Risk and Control Framework
    • Provision of Risk Management services
    • Clear MI delivered on a timely basis, which sets out all key risks to the business, and supports a ‘no surprises’ culture

    Regulatory Obligations

    • Development and maintenance of effective relationships with key regulatory bodies (e.g. FCA)
    • To facilitate and support customer facing risk committees
    • Management and appraisal of direct reports and development of all staff (UK & Czech Republic)
    • Provide assurance on the standards of risk management through regular reporting to the CRO relevant governance committees e.g. Group Board, BRCC, MRCC and FNZ (UK) Ltd as appropriate


    Managing Relationships

    • Providing support and challenge to key business stakeholders in implementing FNZs risk management framework.
    • Managing the relationship with clients both formally (through Risk Committees) and informally.
    • Representing risk at the appropriate governance committees of FNZ (including the Change Release Board, Operational Risk Committee and CASS Committee).
    • Aligning risk management and Compliance approaches.
    • Working with external auditors, particularly on the annual Control Audit (ISA 3402) Managing Process and Administration
    • Working with the CRO designing, documenting, communicating and implementing the GRCF, policies and procedures across all areas of risk.
    • Engaging with colleagues on a global basis, to ensure consistency of approach across all FNZ business units.
    • Identifying, designing and implementing the upstream regulatory risk management process.
    • Advising and providing guidance to senior management and employees on risk management issues.
    • Provide risk management support to product/service development and proposition developments.
    • Evaluating the risk exposure relating to new business activities, including assessing the appetite to risk and current assessment of the risk associated with these;
    • Preparing and collating monthly Risk Management reporting to the MRCC and the UK Board.
    • Ensuring there is robust risk management in place for significant and business critical change projects.
    • Overseeing the submission of accurate risk management regulatory returns e.g. ICAAP. 
    • External Liaison
    • To prepare reports and liaise with clients on Risk and Compliance matters
    • To liaise with auditors and consultants on Risk and Compliance matters managing People
    • Managing the Risk function.
    • Planning and scheduling workload for the team and projects.
    • Managing team resources, planning and recruiting new staff as and when workload dictates.
    • Carrying out staff performance reviews, identifying staff development and training needs and devising development programmes.
    • This role is in scope for activities which have a direct impact on CASS processing which takes place within FNZ for FNZ and/or FNZ’s clients. This role has a requirement to remain up to date with CASS developments and changes as communicated with FNZ

    Experience Required

    • In-depth knowledge of the UK financial services and regulatory framework
    • 5-10 years’ experience working at a senior level within a regulated environment
    • Significant previous experience in a senior risk management role, ideally within a platform environment.
    • Knowledge of FCA (including SYSC, COLL, CASS and COBs), AML and DPA requirements.
    • Experience of ICAAP production.
    • Professional or industry qualification such as IOR, CISI, IMC.
    • Excellent knowledge of industry risk management best practice.
    • Experience of developing and implementing management policies and processes.
    • Ability to understand and articulate the commercial benefits of effective risk management.

    • Ability to communicate effectively at a variety of levels within a regulated environment, both internally and externally, written and verbally.
    • Good inter-personal skills necessary to constructively challenge senior management where appropriate.
