  • Role Description

    The Test Lead will be able to complete lead BAU releases or assist Test Managers on new Client implementation.

     

    Our Test lead will be involved in all aspects of testing SDLC process from defining test approach/estimation and testing as well as the more technical activities including test automation, database manipulation and XML injection testing to functional specification testing, Client relationships and UAT support.

     

    They will work closely with Clients, Business Analysts, Developers and our Operations staff to support the delivery of world class software and understand our application, our business and the industry we operate in as well the range of test tools and methodologies. 

     

    In addition they will be expected to mentor and promote test best practices within the test team.

    Test Design & Preparation:

    • Lead and Define the test approach
    • Produce and/or Review all test documentation for each assigned BAU release
    • Lead and participate in reviews of business requirements/user stories to ensure that they are quantifiable and testable;
    • Lead and participate in extracting testing requirements from Functional specification and business requirements; and
    • Review and produce artefacts to support testing activities such as Test Designs, Test Cases and Test Procedures.

     

    Test execution and leadership:

    • Perform structured and context-driven (formal /ad-hoc) system, system integration and regression testing as required
    • Use internal defect tracking and test case management system(s) to document test cases, record defects and record test case execution results.
    • Raise and re-test defects
    • Lead defect triage meetings as directed
    • Assist Client/Subject matter experts (SMEs) with user acceptance testing if required
    • Assist with automation testing where required
    • Include and actively get automation testing to be part of your release/project that complies with the Test Automation framework
    • Actively provide Client support activities, supporting client UAT.
    • Provide regular progress status updates using the agreed format
    • Call out resourcing issues/constraints or release surplus resources for other projects/releases
    • Highlight and manage any risks and issues associated with the release/projects
    • Deliver a quality change to our clients by the agreed timelines
    • Be a test lead for projects that are supported by NZ testing resources.  Where required, feed into the client-facing test manager and provide regular reporting and information on testing progress from the NZ team
    • Mentor Snr Test analysts and Test Analysts
    • Assign daily test activities to the test resources assigned to your release/project and ensure deliverables are being meet
    • Ensure documentation/regression packs and automation packs are keep current during the release process


    Collaboration / Communication:

    • Strong ability to liaise with the other areas in FNZ and Client side.
    • Ensure that testing issues/ solutions are called out appropriately to the testing community, and where there are obvious process improvements promote to the broader FNZ teams and client engagement teams
    • Collaborate with other test analyst to share knowledge, best practices, useful technology, and opportunities for cross-project test design / solutions.
    • Maintain high standards regarding written and verbal communications to ensure that information/risks and issues are clearly and concisely documented and appropriately disseminated
    • Proactively looking for gaps and actively seeking for solution in cooperation with developer and analyst.
    • Demonstrate flexibility and support to all activities in play in the FNZ test team
    • Look for opportunities to innovate and improve the processes used in FNZ
    • Relieve for or be a 2IC for Test Manager roles (as required)
    • Be an Advocate for FNZ test at all times

     

    People Leadership

    • Where required, act as line manager for test analysts in the NZ test team. Regularly catch-up with them and provide feedback on their performance; and
    • Actively involved in the recruitment process for the hiring of new test analysts into FNZ

    Technology:

    • Keep abreast of latest and/or relevant technologies, tools and methods. Identify adoption of processes, technology and tools best suited to FNZ
    • Proactively identify technical (environmental, coding and testing) issues may impede test progress to enable early resolution of said technical issues.
    • Look at ways to innovate and improve processes in FNZ
