  • Role Description

    As a member of our Infrastructure team you will be responsible for investigating, responding to and helping to resolve all corporate IT and Platform related technical problems. You'll spend a lot of your time learning how FNZ put together the Infrastructure on which our award winning Platforms run, getting stuck into supporting & maintaining this bleeding edge technology and being part of a rapidly growing tech company delivering the best financial platforms to the UK’s biggest blue chip Financial Services companies.


    You'll be dealing directly with our users on a daily basis, as well as working closely with engineers and Platform Support teams to ensure that FNZ continue to deliver the best Infrastructure and continue to enable FNZ to do the great things we do. We're not a massive corporate IT team yet, so you'll be exposed to all facets of IT and be expected to develop the expertise necessary to support our extensive portfolio of applications, hardware and services.


    This is both a highly technical and user-facing role and you will be performing duties that align with 1st-2nd Line Support functions with a potential for career progression into engineering.


    Specific Role Responsibilities

    • To resolve logged Desktop Issues and provide user support to over 400 FNZ staff based in Edinburgh, remote branch offices in the UK and the Czech Republic.
    • Manage and maintain physical and VDI corporate images and deployment.
    • Participate in planning & designing high-end physical server & desktop spec to enable corporate users and Developers.
    • Maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrades of corporate software and hardware, liaising directly with vendors as required.
    • To ensure that all new and existing staff have the appropriate system access to carry out their role; record and monitor such access adhering to FSA & industry InfoSec best practise.
    • Procurement, maintenance and provision of hardware to staff including laptops, smartphones and other devices to enable the workforce.
    • This role is not in scope for activities which have a direct or indirect impact on CASS processing which takes place within FNZ for FNZ and/or FNZ’s clients. There is a requirement to remain up to date with CASS developments and changes as communicated with FNZ

    Experience Required

    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft desktop & server products.
    • Solid understanding of hardware products including servers, PCs, laptops, printers and general network equipment.
    • Solid understanding of fundamental networking principles.
    • Excellent written & oral communication skills.
    • Good team player.
    • Independent, ability to self-manage and able to take initiative
    • Superior problem solving capabilities.
    • Experience of Active Directory, E-Mail and VMWare VDI would be beneficial.
    • Experience of SCCM administration would be preferable but not necessary as training will be given.
